Julie Turcotte is acting Assistant Deputy Minister in the Economic Policy Branch. In this capacity, Mrs Turcotte is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the Branch, which includes providing rigorous and timely analysis of economic conditions and prospective economic issues in Canada and the United States as well as producing short-, medium-, and long-run macroeconomic forecasts. She also oversees the provision of key qualitative and quantitative policy advice to the Minister and the Department on a range of macroeconomic issues which are likely to influence Canada’s medium- to long-term economic performance and living standards, including fiscal and monetary policy, macro-financial risks and factors, external shocks, and the determinants of economic growth.

Julie Turcotte has over 20 years of experience analyzing global economies and contributing to public policies, exemplified through her leadership on developing Canada’s Gender Results Framework. Julie’s career began at Employment and Social Development Canada, before joining the Department of Finance in 2001. Over the years, she has held increasingly senior positions, developing a particular expertise in macroeconomic and economic policy analysis.

Born in Montréal, Julie earned a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Montreal.
